The State of filming in San Diego County

San Diego County is as big as some states - 4,255 square miles. And if you want to film in this vast area, you're wise to use the friend of the film makers - The San Diego Film Commission. They want you to work here and they're prepared to make it easy and trouble free. Here are some incentives:
  • No permit fees for filming.
  • Free public properties with the City, County and Port.
  • Discounted City of San Diego police services.
  • Hotel Discount Program
Do you have any stories about shooting with or without the commissions help? There are some colorful ones, like the late night liquor store shoot in Coronado that dispatched the Swat Team. That was one without the commission's help. Cathy Anderson is Film Commissioner/CEO

Indie Screenwriters, it's too late

As an aspiring screenwriter, what you need more than anything is exposure. It doesn’t matter how great your script is if no one has read it. The goal of the IndieProducer Screenwriting Contest is to get your screenplay in front of the people who can hire you, and help get your movies made.
The event is December 1st in Beverly Hills, but to enter your script you had to submit it back in August. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to miss next year's deadline.

Digitally Marketing

Digital Operative co-owner BJ Cook laid out the world of digital communication for the gathered MCA-I members this week.
Marketing today is all about a two-way conversation, both parties participating on their own terms. Even the big guys, long associated with massive media dumps on TV, print and radio are now adopting a listening stance with their consumer base. The new media provides the "two-tools" we need to market our business.
BJ introduced the names to know - Twitter, Ning, Wordpress, Facebook to Feedburner - this is the new media. He promised an outline of his presentation. We'll try make it available soon in this space. www.digitaloperative.com

Here's the presentation script. Very good stuff:
